Kickoff of drilling campaign in Hombourg
In March 2024, we commenced a series of 11 drillings in the Dutch and Belgian search area for the Einstein Telescope. Alongside geophysical-seismic research, the drillings will provide a better understanding of the soil structure. Geohydrologist Bjorn Vink provides an explanation at the first drilling site in Hombourg (Wallonia). What do we hope to find in the soil, in search of the perfect location for this underground observatory?
