Govert Derix on Love in the Light of the Einstein Telescope: “Encounter between fact and fiction”
The first short video from the Einstein Telescope, publications in the media and, certainly, the novel Love in the Light of the Einstein Telescope itself have generated a great deal of attention and excitement for the book by writer-philosopher Govert Derix. In short, every reason to show a longer version of the interview with Govert Derix.
“I want to pass on to readers the enthusiasm that gave birth to this book,” says Derix. “It is a hopeful story, a light in relatively dark times. I hope that the book will therefore be a positive influence on everyone who reads it.”
Multilayered
The book was published just before the summer and has since found its way to many readers. The reactions are striking. Readers say they want to read the story in one go and that it contains different layers. You can read it as a love story, a political novel or a philosophical essay about our place in the universe.
The work has not gone unnoticed in the media either. Optimist Magazine and the Boekenkrant have already featured the book and praised the way Derix brings imagination and science together. ‘There will come a time when this story will be parallel to reality,’ he says. ‘Perhaps fact and fiction will meet in ways we cannot yet imagine.’
More than fiction
For Derix, “Love in the Light of the Einstein Telescope” is more than a novel. It is a philosophical quest, a literary reflection and an ode to human hope. ‘I want to pass on the pleasure and zest for life that I felt while writing. I hope that readers will gain confidence that everything will be alright with this world,’ he says. ‘Just as the Einstein Telescope opens a window to new possibilities.’
