Find the ET corner points at the Nerdland science festival
Where exactly are we going to build the Einstein Telescope in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine? Where will the corner points of the telescope – which will form an underground triangle – be located? These are the most frequently asked questions about the Einstein Telescope.
Visitors to the Flemish science festival Nerdland (22–25 May) can search for these corner points, scattered across the festival site, on Saturday, May 23, Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25. Those who find a corner point, answer a film-related question, and creatively link it to a sentence can look forward to receiving some fascinating reading material as a reward.
This is the third consecutive year running that the Flemish Einstein Telescope organisation (ET-Vlaanderen) has been at Nerdland in Wachtebeke near Ghent to promote the futuregravitational waves detector.

An exciting Monday
This search for corner points is, of course, tongue-in-cheek and meant playfully. Anyone wishing to find out more can visit the ET-Vlaanderen stand on Saturday, Sunday and Monday during the festival.
On Monday, May 25, even more Einstein Telescope-related activities. Renowned cosmologist Thomas Hertog will present his talk titled ‘Echoes of the Big Bang’. The same evening, Daniel Mayerson and Bert Vercnocke will discuss the ins and outs of the Einstein Telescope. They are also the creators of the 11-part podcast series in which they explore various aspects of the telescope with a multitude of experts.
Because it’s never too early to start taking an interest in science, Bert Vercnocke and Ina De Winne will also be presenting the science theatre show ‘Talking to Black Holes’ on Sunday and Monday, suitable for children aged 6 and over.
