Workshop V1: Cross Border Strategic Collaboration in R&D
Einstein Telescope EMR Forum
The fifth breakout session focused on strategic and international cooperation in both R&D and valorization. How do we successfully come to a joint agenda and strategy with different countries? The group was split into two tables with expert panels. The first table addressed the trilateral R&D agenda.
“Next to strict research, an R&D agenda should also concern social and business elements”

The first group addressed the trilateral R&D agenda. At this moment R&D coordinators in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR) are preparing a R&D agenda for Einstein Telescope. During the breakout session, various experts and stakeholders gave their point of view on how to come to an international R&D agenda. The experts at the table were aligned, for example regarding the need to inventory capabilities. This alignment energized and confirmed the viability of pursuing a common agenda.
However, the workshop also highlighted the comprehensive approach of the expert panels, considering social and business elements alongside strict research considerations. The initial focus was on research, but in addition the panel also emphasized the importance of disseminating knowledge and establishing educational channels, as well as communication with stakeholders.
The valuable input of the participants is currently under review and will significantly support the work of the R&D coordinators.
