Luxembourg joins entire Benelux in supporting the Einstein Telescope

The prime ministers of the Benelux countries and North Rhine-Westphalia have expressed strong support for the candidacy of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine to host the Einstein Telescope. Notably, Luxembourg, represented by Prime Minister Luc Frieden, has officially voiced its support.

This announcement was made during the Benelux Summit on November 29, 2023, in Rotterdam. The tenth summit was chaired by the Netherlands.

The Einstein Telescope is one of the concrete projects that can count on the highest level of administrative commitment and support from the three countries and North Rhine-Westphalia. While Luxembourg had previously shown considerable positive interest, it has now translated into an official commitment to actively support the candidacy with its partners.

In the same spirit, the Benelux countries, represented by Prime Minister De Croo (Belgium), Prime Minister Rutte (Netherlands), and their Luxembourgish counterpart Frieden, reiterated their intention to further develop and invest in their collaboration with all regions bordering the Benelux. Prime Minister Wüst of North Rhine-Westphalia gladly joined this commitment.
